Comparing Act One sentiment One and Act Two Scene One of Educating RitaIn willy Russells turn tail educating Rita the first candidates of each actsare very different from each other. In act two scene one there isalmost a complete reverse in addresss attitude, status and behaviourfrom the first scene of act one. This is because in act one, Ritareally admires rough and wishes she could be still identical him because ofhis vast have it offledge. However in act two Frank admires the change inRita but at the same time he is also upset because he has lost theRita he used to know and he thinks that Rita no longer needs himbecause she knows what wine to buy and what garment to wear but Ritadoesnt realise that theres more to education than just this good turn unmatched FRANKFrom the first scene of act one the first character we begin to learnabout is Frank. Frank is middle aged, uses standard position and iswell spoken. He appears to be a stereotypic middle assort academicbut he has hidden qualities. Frank likes to drink Yes I suppose Idid take it on to pay for the drink. He constantly refers to thedrink and drinks throughout the play which suggests that Frank is analcoholic. He drinks to help him whole tone delicately through the pressuresof his life- Not only is he teaching a course he doesnt want toteach, Hes got a girlfriend who is constantly get him.As well as drinking, Frank also smokes which makes him quite a weakcharacter because in scene one, Rita offers him a cigarette and he hasone even though he has supposed to have addicted up I made a promisenot to smoke. end-to-end the play Franks frustration is shown by his sarcastichumour I like my lamb done to the point of abuse... You couldincinerate ratatouille and it still wouldnt burn equal this, Franksattitude towards most things is negative Im actually an appallingteacher. Like the alcohol, Franks negativeness is brought on by hislife. Frank gets no enjoyment from teaching, hed much earlier b e withhis friends at his local pub. But besides Franks negativity, Frankdoesnt lower oneself Rita What would you like to know... Everything?Thats rather a lot... where would you like to start? He listens andempathises.ACT ONE RITAIn the first act, Rita comes across as a stereotypical working classLiverpudlian woman She is twenty six, working class, speaks with ascouse dialect and lives in a council house with her husband Denny.
